The Angel Of The Lord Encamps Around Those Who Fear Him

Angel

“The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them. Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him”. (Psalm 34:7-8 N.I.V)

On his way back to the promised land (Genesis 32:1-2), Jacob was feeling scared and vulnerable. He had his large young family with him, his servants, his extensive livestock and everything else he owned. There was also the issue of his brother Esau who he had deeply wronged, and who had vowed to kill him. But God showed him that he was not alone. Besides his own camp, there was also a camp of Angels of God with him.

In another instance the Prophet Elisha’s servant was scared of the king’s army with horses and chariots that were advancing towards them. The servant said, “Oh no, my lord! What shall we do?” 2 kings 6:15. “Don’t be afraid,” the prophet answered. “Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” And Elisha prayed, “Open his eyes, Lord, so that he may see.” Then the Lord opened the servant’s eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariotsJ)"> of fire all around Elisha. 2 kings 6:16-17.

Open your eyes and see the protection of the Lord. “None of them that trust in Him shall be desolate.”

*****

“I had feelings of fear about the future...The devil kept on whispering, "It's all right now, but what about afterward? You are going to be very lonely"....And I turned to my God in a kind of desperation and said "Lord, what can I do? How can I go on to the end?" And He said, "None of them that trust in Me shall be desolate." That word has been with me ever since”.  Amy Carmichael
