Fighting the Voices of Division

Scratch my back

“If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone”.(Romans 12:18 N.I.V)

Differing political affiliations can be a major cause of dissentions in the work place. If we dig deeper into the personal motives we will find that these stem from pride, jealousy and selfishness. Some people feel entitled, leaving others feeling hopeless and alienated, but we are meant to be one; striving for what benefits all. Many people think they are Christians but their behavior speaks of acting in the flesh. Christians are expected to make and keep peace as far as they possibly can. They are called to be humble, gentle, and wise enough to reach out to others with love and not give back hate for hate. They are called to build a wall of righteousness to protect from destruction arising out God’s wrath.

God says today, “I looked for someone who might rebuild the wall of righteousness that guards the land. I searched for someone to stand in the gap in the wall so I wouldn't have to destroy the land, but I found no one”. Ezekiel 22:30. Be that someone God needs, at the workplace, at home and everywhere you go.

We are all one - or at least we should be - and it is our job, our duty, and our great challenge to fight the voices of division and seek the salve of reconciliation”. Roy Barnes
