Standing on the Promises of God

Call unto God

"Praise be to the LORD, who has given rest to his people Israel just as he promised. Not one word has failed of all the good promises he gave through his servant Moses”. (I Kings 8:56 NIV)

Russell Kelso Carter (1849-1928) wrote the popular hymn “Standing on the Promises” .He was a brilliant person with varied accomplishments ranging from star athlete, teacher, writer, rancher, doctor, clergyman, and music composer. It is said that the inspiration behind the song is drawn from 2 Corinthians 1: 20, For all the promise of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us."

For many years, Kelso Carter struggled with a sickness (consumption) which at that time was incurable. He believed that God’s promises are true and that he would receive miracle healing through prayer alone. But the Lord chose not to restore his health that way. After the cure for consumption (Tuberculosis) was discovered, he was properly diagnosed and treated. He was healed through prayers and a medical breakthrough. God chooses his method of healing but, “Not one word has failed of all the good promises he gave ….”

As you worship and praise God, rest assured that you can stand on the promises of God.
