The Devil is a Liar

"You will not surely die," the serpent said to the woman. (Genesis 3:4N.I.V.)

Tomorrow there is a funeral of a man cut down at the prime of his life. Speculation has it that he was killed due to business rivalry and the suspect is now remanded in prison. At first it was reported that the man had just collapsed and suffered injuries from his fall, but a postmortem quickly revealed that his injuries were consistent with murder since he had bruises all over the body. People think that they have planned carefully but often there is a strong trail of evidence linking them to the crime. They discover too late that they will never gain from their evil actions. They have been enticed and deceived by the lying spirit saying as to Eve “You will not surely die...” The devil was “…a murderer from the beginning. He has always hated the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, it is consistent with his character; for he is a liar and the father of lies”. John 8:44. Rein in your envy, jealousy, greed and lusts: lest they lead you to harm others and ultimately yourself.
