That Burning Feeling of Friendship

Laughing Cat

“They asked each other, "Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?” Luke 24:32 NIV

When I think of Jesus, I see him as having a calm and peaceful demeanor. I see him as having clear soft, smiling eyes which look at me with comfort and understanding. I see him as non threatening and on my side, walking with firm and sure footsteps.  And I think of him encouraging and uplifting me with his words. I think my vision is correct because the Bible discusses Jesus’ presence similarly. We are told of two dejected disciples on the road to Emmaus who met and walked with Christ. They did not recognize him at the time but they realized later that it was him because of his spirit of love, joy, glory and peace which suffused through them. They must have felt the same with him in earlier occasions. It was and is still his trademark.

How does your presence affect other people? Lose the aggression, anger, malice and all feelings of ill will and let others feel the glory of God burning in their hearts; because of your radiating presence.“Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification”. (Romans 14:19 NIV)
