Peace in a Culture of Fear and Mistrust

Peace

“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind”. (2 Timothy 1:7 K.J.V)

At many workplaces, people fear and mistrust their bosses and coworkers. Many  seek to impress, outshine and outdo others, and think nothing of backstabbing and stepping over others. People are afraid to share information on what is happening, and their personal opinions are quashed because they are afraid that such could be used against them. But alongside such cowardice many opportunities are missed. Creativity and innovation are laid to waste on the dustbin of compliance to the norm where nobody dare risk showing their heads lest they are shot off.  Christians are expected to excel at their work and we cannot do this if smothered in fear. We should be an example to others by doing what is right, with the peace of God resting in our hearts. We should not be so petrified by fear of what others think of us. It should be enough that we do our best and work to constantly improve. it should be enough that we have a clear conscience and act in love to all those we deal with. The Lord protects, justifies and vindicates the righteous. “No weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and this is their vindication from me," declares the LORD”. Isaiah 54:17.

“A wise bird knows that a scarecrow is simply an advertisement. It announces that some very juicy and delicious fruit is to be had for the picking. There are scarecrows in all the best gardens... If I am wise, I too shall treat the scarecrow as though it were an invitation. Every giant in the way which makes me feel like a grasshopper is only a scarecrow beckoning me to God's richest blessings. Faith is a bird which loves to perch on scarecrows. All our fears are groundless”. Anonymous
