Worship Environment Matters

Harpist

“But now bring me a harpist." While the harpist was playing, the hand of the LORD came upon Elisha” (2 Kings 3:15 NIV)

Elisha was greatly troubled all the idolatry and sinful actions around him and his mind could not concentrate on the Lord. He needed to be still and calm in order to be predisposed to hear God. “The Bible tells us, "Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth."Psalm 46:10. We have to still ourselves: get rid of all the noise of bitterness, anger and negative passions in our minds so that we can be inspired to hear God. Music is a good way to do this. When we praise and worship God in song, we are lifted up and able to feel the strong hand of the lord upon us. Where do you get your harpist? Is your church or the place where you worship a good place for you where your heart is calmed and you can feel the hand of the Lord? Look for the harpist. Bring him to others too by making your environment a place where others are lifted up and able to feel the spirit of the Lord. “You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance “Psalm 32:7.

It does matter where you go to church, it does matter where you worship, it does matter where you lift your head, it does matter where you cry out to God. There is something about the atmosphere. I might be lame, but put me in the atmosphere. I may be drunk, but put me in the atmosphere. I may be weak, but put me in the atmosphere. T. D. Jakes
