A New Thing
by Bob Valleau

New Shoot

"See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland". (Isaiah 43:19, N.I.V).

Sometimes we face insurmountable odds. We become lost in a land of heartache and confusion. Our dreams turn into dust, and our hopes turn into helplessness.
The first words God speaks, in this verse, grab our attention. Rest assured that when God says he is doing a new thing, he means it. Even when we don't see how the impossible can become the possible, God is behind the scenes carving out a way for us to go. How does he do this? By guiding us through our wilderness experience onto a pathway filled with his promises; by refreshing our barren souls, with living water, in the midst of our desolation.
Perhaps our daily routines are mundane or boring. Maybe our circumstances are so overwhelming they seem to have no solutions or no way out. If so, then let this be our prayer:

Father, ignite within us again a passion for life. When we feel suffocated by our situations, help us to trust you to do a new thing because we know that you are faithful to call us, and you will do it (1 Thessalonians 5:24).

Cool“Where does your security lie? Is God your refuge, your hiding place, your stronghold, your shepherd, your counselor, your friend, your redeemer, your savior, your guide? If He is, you don't need to search any further for security”. Elisabeth Elliot
