Called by Name, Filled with Wisdom, Understanding, Knowledge, and All Manner of Workmanship

“And I have filled him with the spirit of God, in wisdom, and in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship." (Exodus 31:3 K.J.V)

The Holy Spirit had specially gifted Bezaleel with initiative, artistic appreciation and dexterity. "See, I have called by name Bezaleel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah: And I have filled him with the spirit of God, in wisdom, and in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship." (Exodus 31:2-3) He was able “to make artistic designs for work in gold, silver and bronze, to cut and set stones, to work in wood, and to engage in all kinds of crafts.” (Exodus 31:4-5). He was therefore the right person for the task of director of operations in the construction of the Ark of the Covenant. These gifts were missing in the majority of the Israelites. They had been slaves taking orders from the Egyptian masters and most probably had worked mechanically as per the orders of their Egyptian masters. But by the grace of God, Bezaleel and a few others chosen to help him were different from the masses.

Do you recognize the special qualities which by God's grace you have been given? Are your wisdom, understanding, and knowledge in a particular field greater than in those you live or work with? Will you in humility undertake leadership in that work, for the Glory of God?

What you have is a gift, do not feel that you have to follow the accepted standard of the majority who may be lacking in wisdom. Act on your convictions and your talents.
