By Reverend Miriam Gichung’uah

“For God’s gifts and his call are irrevocable” Romans 11.29

In the last issue, we looked at some of the challenges facing women with a call.  These include feelings of inadequacy, rejection by others, personality traits, comparison, lack of family support, lack of finances to meet ministry needs, misunderstanding by other Christians, prejudice, traditions, cultural norms and values, community perception of a woman, lack of training  and lack of assertiveness for their position.

In this issue, I have given some tips on how to overcome these challenges. These include :-

1. Being sure of your call.

2. Acquiring the relevant training.

3. Depending on the Holy Spirit for sustainability.

4. Reading the word of God on a daily basis.

5. Spending a lot of time in prayer without compromising other primary roles.

6. Being balanced.

7. Working in partnership with others.

8. Learning to forgive from the heart unconditionally

9. Having a passion for God and His people.

10. Being a woman of unquestionable character. ‘live your talk’

11. Be humble and of contrite, the Lord will lift you up.

12. Concentrate on the call without wavering.

13. Setting an example among believers and all others

14. Desire to learn and leadership and Management skills for ministry.

15. Seek to understand others in order to be understood.

16. Be certain on the source of finance and be realistic.

17. Embrace genuine ideas from others, be sure to test every prophecy based on the word of God.

18. Be warm and friendly.

19. Groom yourself appropriately

20. Be organized and sensitive to time management.

21. Learn basic record keeping especially financial records; involve experts such as Accountants and Auditors as much as possible

22. Learn effective communication skills

23. Be a good steward of God’s resources

24. Learn effective public relation and human resource management.

25. Avoid idleness.

26. Be creative and innovative.

27. Go for quality, effectiveness and efficiency.

28. If you establish a ministry, distinguish between the ministry and personal needs.

29. Identify capable people to work with and delegates as much as possible.

30. Continuous Evaluation.

These and many more help or facilitate the development of a woman’s call and ministry. Rev.7:15-17.

Women With A Call Ministry

These challenges among others were the basis of establishing Women With a Call Ministry. It was registered in 1996 after operating informally since 1989 as an informal movement for ministering women. It is affiliated to WWACI (Women With A Call International) which has its headquarters in USA.

WWACI seeks to partner with other Christian Women Ministers, to equip and empower them for Church growth through effective performance of all activities that pertain to the calling.

WWACI also organizes evangelistic meetings such as crusades, conferences, seminars, and mission trips within Kenya and neighbouring countries. Most women involved with WWACI have been able to establish their own Ministries including Churches, while other hold keys positions in their Churches.
