“For God’s gifts and His call are irrevocable”     Romans 11.29

The Lord God calls both men and women to compliment one another; and upon them He releases His Spirit for work.

"And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy: And I will show wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke: The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come: And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved." Acts 2:17-21.

The same Lord gives the same Spirit and the same assignment – to serve Him in this life. He gives different offices to those that He calls – some to preach, some to prophesy, and minister to His people in all ways. The Lord also equips them for the task that needs to be accomplished. However, even with this knowledge and understanding; women ministers are faced with very fundamental challenges

Some of these challenges include:-

1. Feelings of inadequacy –not sure of your competence
2. Rejection by others – negative response to your mission
3. Personality traits – need to refine personality and project positively to others
4. Comparison – being evaluated in relation to others more accomplished
5. Lack of family support – important base for encouragement and sustainability
6. Lack of finances to meet ministry needs – how to raise finance
7. Misunderstanding by other Christians in accordance to their interpretation of scripture.
8. Prejudice (being judged unfairly) – How to deal with discrimination, chauvinism, intolerance, fanaticism etcetera
9. Traditions and cultural norms. Approaches to effectively manage people’s values for example as regards respectful conduct, dress etcetera.
10. Managing community perception of a woman as house maker, child bearing tool, sex object, to be seen never to be heard attitude, etcetera.
11. Lack of training. The importance of guidance into effective methodologies

12. Assertiveness for position in the ministry. Steps to building self confidence.

These challenges among others were the basis of establishing Women With a Call Ministry. It was registered in 1996 after operating informally since 1989 as an informal movement for ministering women. It is affiliated to WWACI (Women With A Call International) which has its headquarters in USA.

WWACI seeks to partner with other Christian Women Ministers, to equip and empower them for Church growth through effective performance of all activities that pertain to the calling.

WWACI also organizes evangelistic meetings such as crusades, conferences, seminars, and mission trips within Kenya and neighbouring countries. Most women involved with WWACI have been able to establish their own Ministries including Churches, while other hold keys positions in their Churches.
