“There is one whose rash words are like sword thrusts…” Proverbs 15:1 Do you remember a time when somebody spoke hurtful words that kept you upset for so long? In many relationships, especially long-standing ones, there are times when the two sides stop paying attention to their choice of words. This is sometimes because they take the other party for granted. They then let words emanating from their own often mistaken judgement of the situation or personal agenda spill out without thinking about the effect on the other person. All of us are prone to negatively judging others based on our fears, insecurities, and socialization. Your judgement is more a reflection of you than others. Careless words can wound more deeply than we imagine. We need to bless and build up, not tear down. Someone wisely said, "Before you speak, let your words pass through three gates: Is it true? Is it necessary? Is it kind?" Prayer: |
