Adultery starts in the heart, even before the act of adultery has ever been committed, it is thought about first by the attitude within our spirit. We may think it is ok to lust, desire and covet others, but we have deceived ourselves. This is why Jesus says to not look at a woman or man lustfully or it will cause adultery, or for the unmarried, fornication.
(Matthew 5:27-28

Lust is an attitude created within the heart and mind of those who have not been taught to believe in God with faith and trust. The moral principles and guidelines that God has given us through scripture are for our instruction. The trouble is most people do not recognize God's Word for them and they live their lives under their own understanding, which leads to selfish behaviors.

The sin of adultery starts with how we think and what we have been conditioned into believing since a small tot. Even those who go to church and profess to be Christians have fallen along the wayside when it comes to this issue in marriage. Those who are unfaithful in their marriage create immorality for themselves through what they dwell on and their beliefs. If a young boy looks at pornography magazines at the age of 12 years, and views girls and women as sex symbols, what is going to change when he is married and 35 years old?

Unfaithfulness in marriage has caused a lot of grief and suffering to a lot of married people and children. Children, no matter what the age will be affected by a parent's infidelity. If the unfaithfulness causes a divorce the children will have to bear some of the consequences of a parents sin by being separated from one of their parents. Then they will get a new mom or dad that perhaps will treat them badly and doesn't care about them. A parent's selfishness and godlessness will affect the children.

Your spouse is greatly affected too, just by having to deal with the emotions that come from visualizing the person they committed themselves to for life, being with someone else intimately. The best way to preserve your marriage and family is don't cheat! God did not create people to use their pleasure zones in immoral ways. In fact God created and reserved sex only for marriage. God wants us to enjoy our pleasure zones but with the person we marry.

God has given us the ability to make our own choices in life. We are free to choose purity, love, and commitment for our marriage or we can selfishly not think about those we have created a life with and cheat on our marriage. When you cheat on your spouse it will affect your spirit and it will keep you in the darkness, which is separateness from God and your true source for happiness, abundance and blessings in marriage.

So what is going to change for the 12-year-old boy who believes that it is normal to view naked girls, and to have sex at 14-years old, and when he gets married to cheat on his spouse? What is going to change his view and attitude on what he should feel and think about women and to start viewing his marriage with purity and love?

Absolutely nothing will change for him unless he denies self and allows God to direct his life journey. God will give him or her a new attitude of love, purity and commitment and cheating and other immoralities will be a thing of the past. God does erase our slate but we have to repent of our weakness and start walking in Him. You can preserve your marriage by not cheating.

Ephesians 4:23: That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; and be renewed in the spirit of your mind. And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.
