Strong Beetle

Resilient, purposeful living, even though he lives in the dung..

By Wangari Murathe

“He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted…to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve …to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning...” Isaiah 61:1-3 (N.I.V)
We all know them, they are our sisters, and our brothers, and our friends, and we are them. A young man whose loss of a loving father drove him to depression: no longer interested in life, hobbies, school, friends, or even other members of his family. A middle aged woman for who nothing brings happiness, not a single smile, since her husband left her for someone else; she sees an enemy in every other woman. An old man who as young man was dumped by his fiancé at the altar, and who made the life of the woman he married in rebound hell on earth. They all let their painful trauma define them.

But we can regain happiness and meaning in our lives, by trying to understand our pain, by seeking healing, so that we can grow from it.

Being strong does not mean you do not feel pain. It means you feel it and try to understand it … so you can grow from it. Karen Salmansahn

“When something bad happens you have three choices. You can let it define you, let it destroy you, or you can let it strengthen you.” ~ Unknown
