WHEN THINGS FALL APART

Cyclone

In this world we are faced by many situations that can result in severe stress, anxiety, fear, anger, frustration, grief, hopelessness and many other tumultuous emotions. These feelings can overwhelm us, ruin our health, and diminish our ability to move forward.

But when we trust God and seek His guidance, He helps us make our way courageously through uncharted waters. He gives us his peace; a calmness and joy that knows no understanding, so that we develop a better sense of control over our thoughts and emotions, allowing us to make good decisions and move forward.

“The cyclone derives its powers from a calm centre. So does a person.” Norman Vincent Peale.

The Word of the Lord bids us to be strong and courageous as we face the storms. “Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you." Deuteronomy 31:6

In which storm will you trust the Lord for deliverance? Seek to have a calm centre and you will acquire the power you seek.

Pray

The Shunamite woman was not only a wise and generous person but one of great wisdom. In 2 Kings 4 verse 8 we read of how she had graciously provided the man of God with lodging and when asked what she wanted in return, she simply stated that she was content with her life.
Elisha's servant noticed that this woman had no child yet despite of this she was living in total thankfulness and was even able to give generously without bitterness.
In Verse 20, her child dies after a short illness. Instead of getting hysterical, panicking and blaming God she took the dead child to Elisha's room and lay him on the prophet's bed.
This act signified her surrender of her situation to God the one who had given her the child and her belief that in that moment the prophet would be able to help her.
The Shunamite woman then quickly asked to go see the prophet. She never told anyone including her husband that the child was dead preffering to go see the prophet.
When Elisha tells his servant to go and her what was wrong she simply states "Everything is all right.."(v26 N..IV)
In her greatest moment of need the Shunamite woman decides to go back to the source. She knew her answer lay in the person who had bestowed the gift of a son on her.
l pray that will be our attitude in the trials of life, that in our greatest moments of need we will remember to go back to God our source of victory in every situation and in every battle.
