Cultivating Intimacy with God

Walking togther

Togetherness

“I speak to him face to face, clearly, and not in riddles! He sees the LORD as he is. So why were you not afraid to criticize my servant Moses?" Numbers 12:8 (N.L.T)

How close is your walk with God? You need to make developing intimacy with him a priority so that he can enable you to do great things. “…continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light.” Colossians 1: 9-12)

Miriam and Aaron were envious of the position and influence Moses had with the people and thought that their relationship with God was just as close as that Moses had and they were therefore entitled to handle some of his responsibilities. They said, “Has the Lord spoken only through Moses?” they asked. “Hasn’t he also spoken through us?” (Numbers 12:2). God disabused them of this notion and praised the faithfulness of Moses and the close intimacy they had. He told them “Listen to my words:” When there is a prophet among you, I, the Lord, reveal myself to them in visions, I speak to them in dreams. But this is not true of my servant Moses; he is faithful in all my house. With him I speak face to face, clearly and not in riddles; he sees the form of the Lord. Why then were you not afraid to speak against my servant Moses?” (Numbers 12: 6-8). Let us strive to be like Moses who brought everything out for the Lord’s direction. He said to the Lord,”  "If your Presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here.” Exodus 33:15. Do not go anywhere or do anything without his blessings.

Those endowed with reason are by their nature fitted to hold communion with God. Why should not such a one call himself a son of God?  - Epictetus
