SMALL BEGINNINGS MATTER

By Reuben Mathenge

The small steps that you make are great milestones in disguise; and only time will tell.  Unfortunately, many potential achievers fail to make it, out of fear.

It is said that quitters never win.  In other words, winners are losers who do not quit.  It is better to try and fail than not to try at all.  After all, who knows?  It could turn out to be a gold mine in disguise.

Small beginnings are the little things you do or the small steps that you take towards achieving a bigger goal.  It could be a small business, clinic, or nursery.

You should seize every good opportunity that presents itself.  Small beginnings are great strides in the road of success.  Someone once said that, ‘small beginnings are steps to great enterprises’.

Most of multinational corporations that trade across the globe began as small business units, and grew to become business empires.

The Holy Scriptures too, admonishes us ‘not to despise the day of small beginnings’ (Zechariah 4:10)

You could be involved in a business that looks insignificant to some people but never give up.  In fact, if you want to succeed, do not give criticizers a space or chance.  Every small positive move that you make can attract a criticizer.

Those small steps that you take are not in vain, but gainful in the long run. Everything is a progression. Remember how a baby progresses from crawling, to standing, to walking and then to running.

Small beginnings are like foundations that support our subsequent success.  The effort that you put in any initiative, project, or business can determine how far you want to go.

Every small step that you take can go a long way in defining your progress and ultimate success.  An old adage says, “The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step”.

Every entrepreneurial move you make, no matter how small it may look, counts a lot.  There are many people who have flourished as a result of taking their small beginnings seriously.

Your future begins with the small steps that you take now.  In fact, every genuine successful entrepreneur has a vivid history of his/her beginnings. Small beginnings may sometimes seem unsteady at first, but gradually yield fruit.  We should cherish our little ‘beginnings’ or steps; they are our ladder to greater things ahead.

A great and sturdy tree originates from a tiny seed.  Likewise, the little or small things that you do may look insignificant at the moment but, as you move on persistently, expansion or achievement is realized.

We need to be serious with the ‘beginnings’ that we undertake to do something or to accomplish a certain objective.  Even for a storied building to stand strong, you must ensure that the foundational work is carried out properly.

Everything that is successful must have a starting point (beginning).  The bible says that, “though your beginning was small, yet your latter end shall greatly increase” (Job 8:7).
